Plain-language commitment

LFE does not sell submitted personal information. Early-interest forms are planning signals—not purchases, reservations, investment commitments, or guarantees of future participation.

1. Scope

This notice applies to information submitted through the LFE website, including the Experience, Collaboration, and Field Intelligence forms. LFE is presently a founder-led prelaunch venture. Future operating systems, customer portals, payments, onboard participation, and research programs may require additional notices and agreements.

2. Information collected

Contact and affiliation information

Name, email address, organization, role, general location, links, and other details voluntarily supplied to begin a conversation.

Experience and sponsorship interest

Preferred pathway, estimated participant count, timing, indicative support range, objectives, and consent to receive follow-up communication.

Field intelligence

Observation or capture type, date, time, location description, coordinates, depth, effort, counts, method, habitat, disposition, evidence links, observer details, and notes.

Technical information

Webflow and other service providers may process device, browser, IP-address, security, and access-log information necessary to operate and protect the site. When a visitor follows a campaign link or submits an interest form, LFE may also retain the landing page, referring source, and UTM campaign parameters so outreach can be evaluated without treating them as a purchase or reservation.

3. How information is used

  • Respond to inquiries and requested follow-up.
  • Measure responsible early demand for proposed seats, reef-grid sponsorships, mission capabilities, collaborations, and field programs.
  • Shape requirements, scheduling assumptions, partner outreach, safety planning, and future offerings.
  • Validate, review, and maintain field records while distinguishing third-party occurrence data from LFE observations and confirmed removals.
  • Protect the site, prevent misuse, and comply with applicable legal obligations.

LFE will not treat an interest submission as permission for unrelated mass marketing.

4. Field-data safeguards

Precise reef, wreck, or species-location coordinates may be operationally, ecologically, or commercially sensitive. LFE does not intend to display precise submitted locations publicly until records are reviewed and publication is appropriate, authorized, and consistent with partner or agency requirements.

LFE field submissions are separate from USGS SIREN and other government or scientific reporting systems. A submission to LFE is not automatically an official agency report. External services have their own terms and privacy practices.

Do not submit confidential employer information, protected cultural-resource locations, private access credentials, or media that you lack permission to share.

5. Sharing and service providers

Information may be processed by providers that host the site, store form submissions, support email, maintain security, or supply professional services. Current website infrastructure includes Webflow; Microsoft services may be used when organizational email routing is activated.

LFE may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse, or support a future organizational transaction. LFE does not sell submitted personal information.

Aggregated or de-identified demand and field trends may be used for planning, research discussions, fundraising materials, and impact-design work when they do not reasonably identify an individual.

6. Retention and security

Information is retained only as long as reasonably useful for the stated purposes, recordkeeping, safety, dispute prevention, and legal obligations. Prelaunch records will be periodically reviewed as systems and programs mature.

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used, but no online service can promise absolute security. Avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive information.

7. Your choices

You may request correction, deletion, or cessation of follow-up communications, subject to legitimate recordkeeping and legal needs. Requests should identify the relevant submission and be sent to Submit a privacy request.

The website is not intentionally directed to children under 13. Proposed onboard participation, if developed, will have separate age, safety, eligibility, and guardian requirements.

8. Changes

This notice may change as LFE moves from prelaunch validation toward formal operations. Material updates will be reflected by a new effective date. Questions about privacy or data use may be directed through the LFE collaboration form.
